2022 Subaru WRX

Introducing the All-New 2022 Subaru WRX.

Get ready to shift gears into an all-new generation of WRX. Subaru has completely re-designed the Subaru WRX for the upcoming 2022 model year. The 2022 Subaru WRX was set to be officially unveiled for Subaru enthusiasts around the world at the International Auto Show in New York, but the Auto Show has been cancelled due to increasing COVID-19 Delta-Variant concerns. The official online reveal is set for September 10th, 2021.

The legend of the WRX gets an all-new, even more thrilling chapter than the last. According to Subaru, we know that the 2022 Subaru WRX will receive upgrades to the Engine, Suspension and Aggressive Style over the last generation of WRX.

Here's what we know so far: based on the ambiguous teaser photo and video released from Subaru it looks like the all-new WRX has the iconic hood scoop and bold, wide fenders. It's easy to assume the new WRX will come par with Subarus unmatched All-Wheel Drive with the choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or Continuously Variable Automatic Transmission (CVT), perfect for Twin Cities drivers, although not many specific details have been confirmed for the new release quite yet.

Feedback on the previous generation would imply an updated powertrain with an uptick in power, nicer interior materials, less cabin road noise & larger updated infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I think we're all hoping for a Hatchback model to return for the 5th-generation of Subaru WRX.

Rally-Inspired sport compact cars are on the verge of extinction, but the next-generation Subaru WRX aims to reignite interest for Minnesota sports car enthusiasts near Minneapolis, MN. With the death of the rivaling Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution years ago, and the more recent exit of the Ford Focus RS, the WRX and higher-performance WRX STi are the only remaining options of World Rally Championship inspired Turbocharged All-Wheel Drive sedans.

According to Car and Driver, with the adoption of a new architecture that should improve driving dynamics, the possibility of a more powerful turbocharged flat-four engine, and the likelihood of a nicer interior, the 2022 WRX promises to be a big improvement over the outgoing version for Lakeville, Apple Valley, Rosemount and Eagan drivers.
