2023 Subaru Solterra

Subaru's First All-Electric Vehicle

The 2023 Subaru Solterra is Subaru's first Electric Vehicle, set to release in 2022 according to Subaru. The name Solterra comes from combining latin words "Sol" and "Terra" which stand for "Sun" and "Earth", respectively. Makes sense for an environmentally friendly EV, right? Subaru has given Hybrid powertrain options on their Forester and Crosstrek models previously, but the Solterra is Subarus maiden voyage into all-electric vehicles for drivers near Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota.

e-Subaru Global Platform

Subaru has coined their new all-electric architecture e-Subaru Global Platform. The new electric powered drivetrain is fit to Subaru's Global Platform which was designed to improve in a few key areas - Safety, Stability, Noise and Vibrations Levels, Comfort and Handling. High strength and lightweight steels making for 70-100% stiffer chassis improve impact-energy absorption by 40%. This design also reduces the amount of vibration felt through the steering wheel, floor and seats, while producing a level of quietness that exceeds current best-in-class standards. By utilizing more rigid suspension mounting, it reduces body roll by 50%, ensuring a comfortable and controlled ride perfect for Lakeville, Eagan and Apple Valley car enthusiasts.

Zero-Emission Adventures

According to Car and Driver, the Solterra will come standard with Subaru's legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, perfect for drivers in Burnsville, Savage and Prior Lake. The 2023 Subaru Solterra will provide off-road and all-weather capability thanks to plenty of ground clearance and Symmetrical AWD. That means zero-emission adventures, it's a great feeling to be able to explore nature without leaving an impact.

Take a quick first look into the 2023 Subaru Solterra EV's interior. While we don't have a lot of details on interior features, options and materials we can defer a few things from this picture. You can see a low, free-standing digital gauge display, a large infotainment system and a high center console with what looks like a rotary shift knob.

According to CarBuzz, Subaru has partnered with Toyota to create this all-new Electric Crossover. Toyota kickstarted the hybrid revolution, not to mention its impressive progress in hydrogen power. Oddly though, they doesn't offer a fully electric car. The Solterra's cousin, the Toyota bZ4X Electric Vehicle, will be Toyotas first as well and will undoubtedly share its bones with the Solterra to save on costs.
